darkhan exposed

it was a long weekend. and so some of the UB pinoys and friends set off for darkhan - the second city to ulaanbaatar in mongolia. the darkhan pinoys were already 'warned' of the visit.

the darkhan explorers

the UB guys took the train on friday. it was a slow and relaxed ride. the moon was out and so the silhouettes of the snowcapped mountains and hills were glowing and were quite a sight.

arriving at 3 am. departed from UB at 850 pm. the train was on time.

visited haraa river which was already frozen (at least most of it)

jon - a canadian vso volunteer also joined the trip

dropped by the buddha on a hill overlooking the city

all wrapped up in winter clothes and fun

tried making a snow angel by the frozen river

playing 'kids'

alain and william for more pics

found an ice treasure

and the ice award goes to...

despite the cold and windy weather over the weekend, darkhan was a good place to visit. the fellowship with friends and colleagues was warm, and the hospitality was authentically pinoy.
